📰 Financial News
- October 28 FOMC statement: The FOMC held the target rate at 3.75–4.00% by a 10–2 vote. Watch whether yields, the dollar and equity breadth confirm the post-decision move.
- Equity/rates: S&P cash (latest 2026-10-28 print) 7,743.98 (+0.28%); ES futures 7,766.75 (-0.21%). The live confirmation gate is first-hour breadth plus 10Y (latest 2026-10-28 print) 5.045% and DXY 102.152.
- Metals: gold $4,046.10 (-0.14%) and silver $53.03 (-1.19%). Tie any breakout/fade to real yields, the dollar, inflation/geopolitics, and silver's industrial-growth confirmation.
- Energy: WTI $101.29 (-1.45%). Treat OPEC/inventory/geopolitical headlines as context until WTI/Brent range expansion and next-session acceptance confirm.
- SpaceX/SPCX: SPCX $143.40 (-1.26%) from Nasdaq. Its October 20 Q3 filing reported $14.6 billion in revenue, up 161% year over year. Keep the quote's timestamp in view; regular-session price action must confirm.
- Dividend Leaders (latest 2026-10-28 equity prints): STRC 12.01%, XOM 2.26%, JPM 1.95%, ABBV 2.42%, IBM 2.67%. Screen balances indicated yield, payout durability, liquidity, orderly price action, and macro relevance; selected names remain rate/sector-sensitive, not raw-yield traps. STRC's $12.00 annualized distribution (StockAnalysis) makes the income case sensitive to rates and price. No separately verified new company-specific development was established for these names in this scan.
- Crypto: BTC $80,105 (-1.44% 24h), ETH $2,323 (-1.57%), SOL $100.44 (-2.03%). Repair needs spot demand, ETF/liquidity support, and funding discipline.
- AI/risk: NVDA (latest 2026-10-28 print) $215.38 (-1.17%); if AI lifts while equal-weight breadth lags, call it concentration, not broad risk-on.
- Sequential headline scan buckets: Tech Rally Stalls as Alphabet, Samsung Disappoint: Markets Wrap; Treasury yields ease after Federal Reserve rate hold; The Fed Kept Rates Steady in October, but We See Cuts in 2027. These are catalyst buckets only; price, yields, oil, breadth, and funding decide whether they matter.
📐 Gann Seasonal Dates
No exact active Gann seasonal date today; next future checkpoint: Nov 7-8 mid-season on 2026-11-07 (9 days away).
Dates checked: cardinal and mid-season checkpoints. No date gets promoted without price confirmation.
🪐 Planetary Aspects
| Timing window | Exact/nearest UTC | Orb | Score | Inspection window |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mercury square Mars | 2026-10-30T17:20:07Z | 1.71° applying | 0.429 | 2026-10-29–2026-10-31 |
Use this as a timing lens and review queue only; price action has the final vote.
- Tight hard-aspect scan: Mercury square Mars (orb 1.7°, applying); Sun square Pluto (orb 2.9°, separating)
- Secondary timing links: Neptune sextile Pluto (orb 1.0°, separating); Uranus trine Pluto (orb 1.7°, applying); Mercury square Mars (orb 1.7°, applying); Sun square Pluto (orb 2.9°, separating). Treat these as inspection windows, not certainty claims.
- Retrograde check: Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. Read retrogrades as review/back-test cycles for existing stories, not automatic reversal calls.
Use aspects as timing lenses, not certainty claims. Price/liquidity decide.
🌙 Moon Phase
Waning Gibbous Moon in Gemini (21.0°), about 85.4% illuminated.
Pop-astro version: The mood wants clean proof after the headline burst: less story-chasing, more follow-through.
Market version: Use the Moon line as an execution audit: first reactions need VWAP/opening-range/funding confirmation before they become structure.
🧠 Gann Lesson
One stock can make a timing window look stronger than its peers.
One unusually large abnormal return can make a group average look like a common reaction. In his event-study procedure, MacKinlay recommends diagnostics because results from a small set of observations can be heavily influenced by one or two firms. Applying that warning to a Gann-style inspection date is a test-design analogy: the paper studies identifiable events, not a validated calendar cycle. Freeze the date, the five securities, the normal-return baseline, and equal weights before looking at the event bars. Imagine synthetic day-zero abnormal returns of +1%, +1%, +2%, +2%, and +19%. Their mean is +5%. Remove each security in turn only for a sensitivity calculation; the five four-stock means are +6%, +6%, +5.75%, +5.75%, and +1.5%. Deleting the +19% observation shifts the reported mean by 3.5 percentage points, a 70% drop from the full-sample mean. The other deletions change it by no more than one point. Keep the original five-stock mean as the primary result and display the largest leave-one-out change beside it. Do not discard the inconvenient constituent after seeing the data. The diagnostic tells you how fragile a particular average is; it does not reveal which inspection dates deserve to be traded.
Try it
Five hypothetical abnormal returns on a prespecified inspection date are +1%, +1%, +2%, +2%, and +19%. Find the equal-weight mean, all five leave-one-out means, and the largest absolute change from the full mean. What percentage of the full mean is that change?
Answer
Full mean = (1+1+2+2+19)/5 = +5%. Leave-one-out means are +6%, +6%, +5.75%, +5.75%, and +1.5%. The largest change is |5-1.5| = 3.5 percentage points; 3.5/5 = 70%. The +19% constituent dominates this average, but it remains in the primary result.
Limits
These five returns are invented and their normal-return model is not estimated. Leave-one-out is a descriptive sensitivity check, not a significance test. Correlation among stocks and repeated-date selection also matter. MacKinlay does not test Gann dates, and this example offers no market-direction or trading prediction.

🔮 Astrology Lesson
Earth's overtaking clock explains Mars's apparent backward loop.
Mars normally shifts eastward against the background stars in an Earth-centered sky chart. Near the part of its cycle when faster Earth overtakes it, the sightline can sweep backward: Mars appears to move westward for a time even while both planets continue orbiting the Sun in their usual directions. NASA's Mars fact sheet lists sidereal orbital periods of 365.256 days for Earth and 686.980 for Mars, with a mean Earth-Mars synodic period of 779.94 days. The relative beat is approximately one divided by (one over Earth's period minus one over Mars's period). It measures how long before their relative orbital alignment recurs, not the length of an individual retrograde loop. This separates two clocks often mixed in astrology copy. The heliocentric orbit has not reversed; the geocentric apparent longitude can temporarily reverse. A station is a change in the apparent rate's sign, which needs dated positions or an ephemeris rather than the average beat alone. To apply the distinction, write down the coordinate frame, the observation timestamps, and the actual price bar on the same chart before discussing any market proxy. A repeated geometric alignment is an astronomical fact; a repeated return response would require its own test.
Try it
NASA lists Earth and Mars sidereal periods of 365.256 and 686.980 days. Compute the approximate relative alignment period as 1 / (1/365.256 - 1/686.980) days. Does this number give the dates when Mars stations?
Answer
The reciprocal is 779.934 days, approximately 779.94 days, matching NASA's mean synodic period. It does not give station dates or loop duration; those require time-stamped geocentric positions.
Limits
The period calculation uses mean sidereal orbits; orbital eccentricity changes exact geometry. Earth-Mars alignment is not identical to Mars's apparent station, and neither event specifies an asset's direction or volatility. NASA's orbital periods are astronomy, not validation of a trading strategy.
